Exploring the Moon's Secrets  - All About Chandrayaan-3

14th July 2023 will always be etched in golden letters as far as India’s space sector is concerned. Chandrayaan-3, our third lunar mission, will embark on its journey. This remarkable mission will carry the hopes and dreams of our nation. - Narendra Modi  (Tweet After Chandrayaan-3 Successful Launch)

Chandrayaan-3  Mission: The mission is on schedule.   The third orbit-raising maneuver (Earth-bound perigee firing) is performed successfully from ISTRAC/ISRO, Bengaluru.  The next firing is planned for July 20, 2023, between 2 and 3 pm IST.

-Chandrayaan-3 is the third lunar exploration mission planned by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

It consists of a lander and a rover, similar to Chandrayaan-2, but does not include an orbiter.

The propulsion module of Chandrayaan-3 will act as a communication relay satellite and carry the lander and rover configuration until the spacecraft reaches a 100 km lunar orbit.

The launch of Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled for July 14, 2023, at 2:35 pm IST.

The mission was proposed after the failure of Chandrayaan-2's soft landing attempt due to a software glitch.

The objectives of Chandrayaan-3 include achieving a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, demonstrating the rover's capabilities, and conducting scientific experiments to better understand the Moon's composition.

Chandrayaan-3 consists of three main components: the propulsion module, the lander responsible for the soft landing, and the rover, which will analyze the Moon's geological and chemical composition.

The project's estimated cost is around ₹615 crore (equivalent to ₹721 crore or US$90 million in 2023), and ISRO requested an initial funding of ₹75 crore (US$9.4 million) for the project.
