Dr. GN Rao, founder chairman of LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), has made significant contributions to eye care and public health.

LVPEI is a leading institution for eye research and one of the top 10 eye care institutions in the world, focusing on quality care and value-based practices.

It has the biggest corneal transplantation center and eye bank in the Asia Pacific region, providing services to over 35 million underpeople, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

LVPEI also offers rehabilitation programs for people with irreversible vision loss and has a network of secondary-level eye care centers in rural areas.

Dr. Rao has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Heroes of Public Health Award from the World Health Organisation's South-East Asia Regional Office.
