The WHO approves the 'R21/Matrix-M' malaria vaccine made by the University of Oxford and the Serum Institute of India.

It will be the world's second-ever WHO recommended vaccine for preventing malaria in children.

According to SII, the vaccine showed high efficacy in clinical trials with both seasonal and perennial malaria transmission.

SII is licensed to produce the vaccine and has established production capacity for 100 million doses per year.
