Dr Koneru Satya Prasad: NRI’s charity works to uplift orphans in India

:

Fifty years ago, UK-based Dr Koneru Satya Prasad embarked on a mission to combat poverty in India. As a young medical student, he founded the People Service Society to aid those struggling with poverty. This initiative evolved into a comprehensive organization, providing medical care, meals, a book bank for underprivileged students, and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities. After dedicating twenty years to serving those below the poverty line, he donated his family home to establish Heal Children’s Village. Initially housing 26 children, the orphanage has since grown to support 250 children and 16 housemothers, continuing its legacy of care and support. HEAL was registered as a charity in the UK, and in 1993, HEAL India was established to increase charity activities in India.

Since its inception, Heal Children’s Village, also known as Heal Paradise, has been dedicated to nurturing the health and education of children. The comprehensive curriculum at Heal Children’s Village not only supports the children’s growth but also equips them with lifelong skills and knowledge. The program includes nutritional education, financial and vocational training, and initiatives focused on environmental sustainability.

Early this year, he laid the foundation stone for The Higher Education Academy For Learning, Alekhya AI Heal Centre of Excellence and a proposed Deemed University of HEAL Charity in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The academy is being established to offer free, high-quality education and healthcare to those in need.

Dr. Koneru Satyaprasad highlighted that the infrastructure is prepared for the first-year courses and outlined plans for expansion within the next three years.

The sports facilities are set to meet international standards within 26 months, with additional infrastructure expected to be completed within four years. The offered courses will include Science and Technology, Arts and Humanities, Management Studies, Skill Development, and Education for Special Needs.
