While establishing a strong presence in Western Canada’s real estate sector, entrepreneurs and philanthropists Radhe and Krishna Gupta have quietly been transforming lives through their generosity. Their Edmonton-based real estate business that they founded in 1986 has grown from a modest home-building enterprise into a national player involved in land development, residential rentals, commercial projects, and real estate lending.
At the centre of their success lies deep commitment to community upliftment. From funding local charities in Alberta to spearheading development initiatives in their native India, the husband-wife duo has always sought to make a meaningful difference.
Whether it’s helping survivors of domestic violence through their annual “Baskets of Hope” fundraiser, contributing to affordable housing via the City of Edmonton’s First Place Program, or making major donations to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, WIN House, the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and the Mental Health Foundation, the Guptas have consistently used their success to serve others. Their generosity has crossed international borders as well. In Radhe’s hometown of Joura, India, they have financed the construction of a hospital, a school, and even a cemetery, ensuring that essential services reach the most underserved.

Before founding their business, both Radhe and Krishna pursued individual careers in Canada’s service sector. They arrived in Edmonton with dreams like any other immigrant couple, and for years, worked diligently in their respective fields, laying down the roots of what would later become a remarkable entrepreneurial journey.
In 1986, operating from a small home office with just four employees, the Guptas co-founded Rohit Group. Guided by a simple mantra of “do it right and give back”. They began with a focus on home building. Over time, the company expanded into land development, residential rentals, commercial assets, and real estate lending. Today, the Rohit Group employs hundreds of people and operates across Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, and Regina, with plans to expand further.
The path wasn’t always smooth. By the early 1990s, the Guptas were close to shuttering the business. But drawing on their adaptability and strong values, they made strong decisions like cutting profit margins, hiring for potential over experience, and surrounding themselves with smart, capable people. Their flexibility and fusion of Indian cultural strengths with Western business acumen became the foundation for their success.
That remarkable journey has not gone unnoticed. In 2020, Radhe and Krishna were inducted into the Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta’s Business Hall of Fame, recognized as one of the region’s most influential business duos who are also committed towards upliftment of the people in need. Recently, the University of Alberta announced that it will confer honorary Doctor of Laws degrees upon the couple during its 2025 convocation, celebrating not just their entrepreneurial excellence but also their tireless contributions to philanthropy and community development.
Through it all, Radhe and Krishna Gupta have proven that true success isn’t just measured by buildings or balance sheets. Rather, it’s about the communities strengthened, lives touched, and legacies built with heart.
