‘Make in India’: Can South Asian giant surpass China and become world’s biggest factory?

When Mr Ganesh Sethuraman moved to India in 2023 to set up a new manufacturing facility for his Singapore employer, JLK Automation, he quickly learnt that perseverance was essential for doing business in the country. “After we decided on the location, we expected it to take three months to get all the paperwork done, but it took us over six months. I remember one day when I put down 150 signatures – there were so many documents!” the 34-year-old said.
