After naming Rohit Sharma as test captain for a series against Sri Lanka, Chetan Sharma, chairman of all-India senior-selection committee had said in Feb 2022 that Rohit Sharma is the no. 1 cricketer in India. Rohit plays all three formats of the game. Chetan Sharma had further said in the virtual press conference that grooming future captains under the leadership of Rohit would be tremendously effective.
