The 'Father of the Green Revolution in India'
Dr. MS Swaminathan
passed away at 98 on September 28.
He was on TIME Magazine's 'Twenty most influential Asians of the 20th century,' alongside Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore.
Dr. Swaminathan worked along with Norman Borlaug, leading agricultural initiatives worldwide for the 'Green Revolution.'
He received many awards like the first 'World Food Prize' in 1987 and the 'Albert Einstein World Science Award' in 1986.
Dr. Swaminathan was cremated with police honours in Chennai, as a mark of respect for his contribution.
