India is home to two of three richest Asians: Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. In stark contrast are the over 200 million Indians who have gone back to earning less than $5 a day in what can only be termed as an implosion of the middle class. Some of the major reasons for this disparity? Extreme social divisions of race, religion, class, and caste. Then there is the widening gaps between city and country to consider. India already accounts for nearly a third of the world’s malnourished people.
