In the middle of the Thar desert stands a fascinating school meant to educate girls from BPL backgrounds in Rajasthan. The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School has been designed such that it doesn’t need any air conditioning despite the scorching desert landscape. Spearheaded by American artist Michael Daube of CITTA, the school has been 10 years in the making and was designed by architect Diana Kellogg. Land for the school which is located near Jaisalmer’s Sam Dunes, was provided to Rajamata Rajeshwari Devi by Manvendra Singh of Jaisalmer Foundation.
