Move over ‘Silicon Valley’: Anand Mahindra wants new nickname for Bangalore

(Our Bureau, June 2) Anand Mahindra doesn’t like to call Bangalore ‘India’s Silicon Valley’. The reason: It’s too “derivative” and “wannabe” for the country’s hi-tech capital, the Mahindra Group chairman wrote in a series of tweets. He was reacting to a new item on Air India’s re-launching its first non-stop flight between Bengaluru and San Francisco. Mahindra also launched a ‘caption competition’, inviting Twitter users to send original moniker suggestions for Bengaluru. Also, the winning title will get a scale replica of Pininfarina, the first electric hydrogen racing car.
