Munich, Germany; ZipCode: 85748
I am an Oil and Gas Engineer and moved to Germany a few years ago for work, and it’s been a really exciting journey. I reside in the vibrant city of Munich, specifically in the picturesque suburb of Garching bei München. This place is like a hidden gem right in the heart of Bavaria, and it’s the perfect mix of old-world charm and modern living, which makes it great for both work and life.
The streets of Garching are lined with historic buildings that reflect a bygone era. There’s a whole lot happening here in terms of culture as well. There are several art galleries, music spots, traditional beer gardens, cozy cafes, and theaters to keep one entertained. The people here are very friendly and welcoming, especially to newcomers like me. The town’s central square, Garching Rathausplatz, is always buzzing with interesting events, concerts, and local festivals that are quite fun to be a part of.
One of my favourite things about living here is the German cuisine, which is a treat for the taste buds. In Garching, you’ll find traditional Bavarian restaurants like the Gasthof zur Mühle, where you can savour dishes like Schnitzel, Sauerkraut, and pretzels, paired with a selection of locally brewed beers. If you ever find yourself in Munich, don’t forget to try the mouthwatering Weisswurst, a Bavarian specialty.
As someone who’s a bit of an adventure junkie and loves hitting the trails, I love to explore the natural beauty that surrounds Munich. The Bavarian Alps are just a short drive away from where I live, offering a plethora of hiking and trekking trails. Places like Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berchtesgaden National Park are perfect weekend getaways for outdoor enthusiasts like me. The stunning landscapes and breathtaking vistas make every hike a memorable experience.
